Marin County, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, May 5, 2026, a single-vehicle collision left two people injured after a truck crashed in Tamalpais Valley, according to KRON.
The Marin County Fire Department reports that the accident took place around 11:50 AM at Waterview Drive and West California Avenue.
Authorities said the driver had exited the vehicle prior to the arrival of emergency personnel and was treated at the scene for injuries. The passenger side of the truck was pinned against a tree, trapping the second occupant inside.
Firefighters used hydraulic extrication tools, including spreaders, to safely remove the passenger from the vehicle. The passenger sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The Southern Marin Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s comparative negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a personal injury claim.
Passenger Liability
A driver’s liability coverage extends to those inside their vehicle as well as outside. In many cases, those passengers are someone who knows the driver personally, a friend or relative. So, when a passenger is injured and their driver is found liable, they may feel reluctant to file a claim against the driver’s insurance.
In many cases, however, a personal injury claim may be required for an insurer to offer a fair settlement that covers the injured party’s medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages related to the accident. A personal injury attorney can facilitate this process and, as a neutral third party, help navigate any emotional complexities that may arise.
