Fresno, CA – On the evening of Friday, April 17, 2026, a suspected DUI collision following a police pursuit left ten people hospitalized, including minors, according to ABC30.
The Fresno Police Department reports that the accident took place around 8:30 PM at the intersection of Olive and Maple Avenues.
Authorities said officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver fled, prompting a brief pursuit. The driver subsequently crashed at the intersection, involving three vehicles in total. Ten people, including minors, were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
The suspect was taken into custody and was being treated at a hospital at the time of reporting. Authorities said the driver faces charges of felony warrants, felony evading, and nine counts of driving under the influence, and would be booked into jail upon medical clearance.
Crews worked to clear debris from the intersection following the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
California DUI Law
Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a personal injury claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
