Fresno County, CA – On the evening of Wednesday, April 1, 2026, a suspected DUI collision resulted in a quad rider being airlifted to receive medical treatment for major injuries, according to KSEE/KGPE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place on Anchor Avenue just north of Floral Avenue.
Authorities said the quad rider was traveling up Anchor Avenue when they swerved into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The driver of the pickup attempted to brake and take evasive action but was unable to avoid the collision. The quad rider sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a local trauma center for treatment.
During the investigation, authorities determined that the driver of the pickup truck was under the influence at the time of the crash. The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The investigation remains ongoing.
California DUI Law
Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a personal injury claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
