Dinuba, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, February 7, 2026, a tractor rollover incident resulted in fatal crush injuries to Ernest Torres, 60, according to KSEE.
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office reports that the accident took place around 2:00 PM near Road 64 and Avenue 384.
Authorities said Torres was operating a tractor next to a residence when he attempted to pull out a small tree using a chain. During the process, the tractor flipped over, pinning and crushing him beneath the machinery.
Deputies responded to a report of a man who had been run over by a tractor and arrived to find Torres suffering from severe injuries consistent with a heavy equipment rollover.
Despite life-saving measures attempted at the scene, Torres was pronounced dead where the incident occurred. The Sheriff’s Office stated that family members were present at the property at the time of the incident and witnessed the aftermath.
No additional injuries were reported, and investigators did not indicate that any other vehicles or individuals were involved.
The incident remains under review, though no foul play has been suggested by authorities.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility in an accidental death. Should someone else be found even partly responsible, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
