Fresno Bicyclist Injured in Blackstone, Gettysburg Ave Crash

Fresno, CA – A 25-year-old woman was injured on the evening of Friday, January 9, 2026, after she was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle at the intersection of Blackstone Avenue and Gettysburg Avenue, according to ABC30.

The Fresno Police Department reported that officers responded to the collision at approximately 4:50 PM after receiving reports of a bicyclist struck by a car in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers found the woman injured and receiving assistance from first responders.

Investigators stated that the woman was riding her bicycle eastbound and attempting to cross Blackstone Avenue when she entered the roadway and crossed the median. A vehicle traveling northbound on Blackstone Avenue then struck the bicyclist.

According to Fresno police, preliminary findings indicate the bicyclist was holding a cell phone at the time of the collision and was not paying attention to traffic conditions.

Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene following the collision and cooperated fully with investigators.

The bicyclist was provided first aid at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Police said she is expected to recover from her injuries.

The Fresno Police Department continues to document the incident in accordance with standard procedures for traffic collisions. No additional information has been released.

Ongoing Investigations

Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.

Partial Liability in Bicycle Accidents

California Law does not consider bicyclists to have the right-of-way under all circumstances. However, motorists are never relieved of the expectation to provide bicyclists with a Duty of Care toward their safety.

If evidence indicates that a motorist shares some responsibility in their own fatal accident, the motorist can still be financially responsible for the victim’s recovery costs in proportion to their degree of liability.
