Bakersfield, CA – On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, authorities announced the arrest of a suspect in the hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of Jared Paul Mitchell, 47, according to KGET.

The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the fatal accident originally took place around 8:00 AM at the 7900 block of Camino Media on October 12.

Investigators said Mitchell was found deceased in the roadway, and early evidence indicated he had likely been struck by a vehicle. No driver or vehicle was located at the scene, prompting a weeks-long investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

Police announced that Nicholas Aguirre Jr., 38, was arrested on Wednesday, November,  on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit-and-run causing injury. Authorities said he was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility.

According to officials, the investigation into Mitchell’s death has been ongoing since the October crash as detectives worked to determine how the collision happened and identify a potential suspect.
