Delano, CA – On the afternoon of Thursday, October 16, 2025, a single-vehicle crash claimed the life of Elias Antonio Hernandez, 21, and left two passengers injured, according to KGET.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 1:40 PM near Woollomes Avenue in Delano.
Authorities said the vehicle veered off the north edge of the roadway and struck several large metal poles before colliding with a wooden power pole on the dirt shoulder.
Investigators said Hernandez, who was driving, was ejected from the vehicle. The impact caused significant damage, and emergency crews arrived to find multiple victims suffering from serious injuries.
Coroner officials identified one of the passengers as Andru Luque Felix, 19, of Delano. Felix was seated in the front passenger seat and suffered major injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 19-year-old female passenger was sitting in the rear seat and sustained moderate to major injuries. She was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
Authorities said it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
