Bakersfield, CA – On the evening of Tuesday, September 16, 2025, a pedestrian, identified as Victoriano Corona Pineda, 72, sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle, according to KGET.

The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 7:33 PM near the 3100 block of Taft Highway.

Investigators said that Pineda suffered critical injuries when a vehicle hit him on the roadway. Emergency crews responded and took Pineda to Kern Medical for treatment.

Despite medical efforts, Pineda died from his injuries the following day, September 17. The Kern County Coroner’s Office later confirmed his identity.

Police said the driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers.

According to early findings, Pineda had entered the roadway outside a marked crosswalk before the collision occurred. The Bakersfield Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
