Bakersfield, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, September 15, 2025, a 24-year-old man from North Hollywood died after his pickup truck collided with a Toyota Corolla, according to KGET.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 12:02 PM on Interstate 5 north of Rowlee Road.
Investigators said the victim was driving a 2025 Ram 1500 northbound when a 45-year-old man from La Puente, driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla southbound, apparently lost control of his vehicle. The Toyota entered the dirt center median and crossed into the northbound lane, directly into the path of the Ram.
The vehicles collided head-on, with the left front of the Ram striking the front of the Toyota. The impact caused catastrophic damage to both vehicles. Emergency personnel responded quickly, but the driver of the Ram was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment. Medical staff provided care for multiple injuries, though none were life-threatening.
Officials confirmed that alcohol and drugs do not appear to have contributed to the crash. CHP officers documented the scene, collected vehicle data, and examined the roadway to determine the circumstances leading to the collision.
Authorities urged anyone with information about the crash to contact the California Highway Patrol.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
