Elk Grove, CA – On the morning of Friday, August 22, 2025, a 21-year-old motorcyclist died in a collision with a truck in Elk Grove, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The Elk Grove Police Department reported that the crash occurred around 6:15 AM on Elk Grove Florin Road just north of Campbell Road.
Investigators said the driver of a pickup truck towing a trailer attempted a U-turn from the northbound lane into the southbound lane when the motorcycle struck the truck broadside.
The force of the impact threw the motorcyclist from the bike. Medical responders pronounced the rider dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, pending notification of next of kin by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
The crash prompted a complete closure of Elk Grove Florin Road in both directions throughout the morning as investigators worked to document the scene and remove the vehicles. Elk Grove Police confirmed the roadway reopened shortly before noon.
The Elk Grove Police Department’s traffic bureau continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision. Officials urged anyone with information about the incident to contact their office.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
