Sutter County, CA – On the afternoon of Tuesday, August 19, 2025, a two-vehicle collision at a rural intersection caused the death of a female passenger, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 1:50 PM at the intersection of Live Oak Boulevard and Eager Road in northern Sutter County.
Investigators determined that a northbound Hyundai Elantra attempted to make a left turn onto westbound Eager Road when it crossed into the path of a southbound Honda Accord. The two vehicles collided head-on at the intersection.
Officers found the Hyundai in the northbound lane of Live Oak Boulevard with major front-end damage. They located the Honda with heavy damage in a dirt and gravel area on the southwest corner near the Korean Methodist Church.
Emergency responders transported the passenger in the Hyundai to Adventist Health and Rideout Hospital. Medical staff later confirmed that the woman died from her injuries. Authorities stated that the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office coroner division will release her name after they notify her family.
The drivers of both vehicles sustained minor injuries. Responders transported the Honda driver to a hospital for treatment, while the driver of the Hyundai declined medical transport.
CHP investigators said they do not believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to review evidence and witness statements to determine the cause of the collision.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
