Tulare Police Chase Ends with 2 Drivers, 1 Pedestrian Injured, West Inyo Ave Church Destroyed

Tulare, CA – On the evening of Sunday, July 13, 2025, a pursuit-related multi-vehicle collision injured a pedestrian, the driver of a second vehicle, and the driver of a suspected stolen vehicle, according to KSEE.

The Tulare Police Department reports that the accident took place around West Inyo Avenue on church property.

The incident began when a patrol officer received an alert of a possible stolen vehicle. The officer confirmed with dispatch that the vehicle was reported stolen, but lost sight of it before making contact. The officer later located the vehicle with a driver seated inside and conducted a traffic stop.

According to investigators, the driver attempted to flee, ignoring posted stop signs, and the officer gave pursuit. During the chase, the vehicle collided with another car, which resulted in a pedestrian being struck.

Authorities said the collision caused the pursued vehicle to continue forward until it crashed into a church building on West Inyo Avenue. The impact caused extensive structural damage, leaving the building destroyed.

Emergency personnel transported the driver of the suspected stolen vehicle, the driver of the second car, and the pedestrian to nearby hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Police confirmed that all three individuals required medical care before the suspected driver of the stolen vehicle was released into police custody.

Officers stated that once the suspected driver was medically cleared, he was booked into the county jail. The case remains under investigation as police continue to examine the circumstances of the pursuit, the collisions, and the extent of the damage to the church property.

Personal Injury Claims

When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a Personal Injury Claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.

Duty of Care Toward Pedestrians

Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for pedestrians near the roadway and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim to ensure they get proper medical treatment and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
