Bakersfield, CA – On the afternoon of Friday, August 1, 2025, a vehicle struck pedestrian Sheila Mae Barton, 77, resulting in fatal injuries, according to KGET.

The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 1:00 PM near the 2000 block of Park Way.

Authorities stated that Barton, a resident of Bakersfield, was transported by emergency personnel to Kern Medical Center after the collision. Medical staff provided treatment for her injuries, but she was pronounced dead at the hospital on the morning of August 2 at approximately 8:30 AM.
