Bakersfield, CA – On the afternoon of Thursday, July 24, 2025, a traffic collision involving a big rig and multiple pickup trucks resulted in lane closures on Highway 99, according to KGET.
The California Highway Patrol stated that the crash occurred at approximately 3:45 PM in the northbound lanes of Highway 99, near the offramp for Houghton Road.
Preliminary information indicated that a portion of a pickup truck traveled across the center divider and entered the southbound lanes. The big rig involved in the incident came to a stop off the roadway on the northbound side.
Authorities reported that up to five vehicles may have been involved in the crash. As a result of the collision, the #1 lane on the southbound side and the #3 lane on the northbound side were blocked. Traffic in both directions was affected until the lanes were reopened to motorists by around 5:20 PM.
The extent of any injuries resulting from the collision was not confirmed by officials at the time of reporting. The cause of the crash remained under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
