Sacramento, CA – On the evening of Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 36-year-old Linda Tracy of Sacramento was fatally injured in a single-vehicle collision in a shopping center parking lot, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The Sacramento Police Department reports that the accident took place around 6:00 PM near the 7400 block of Rush River Drive in the city’s Pocket neighborhood.
Officers responded to the scene and found Tracy pinned between her own vehicle and a parked car outside a Bel Air supermarket. Emergency personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department attempted lifesaving measures, but Tracy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Tracy appeared to be the operator of the vehicle at the time of the incident, and two young children were inside the car. The children were not injured.
Investigators have not determined whether the vehicle suffered a mechanical malfunction or if it had been improperly secured, but authorities confirmed that the crash was not a hit-and-run.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit and crime scene personnel responded and interviewed witnesses. Officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the fatal incident and have asked anyone with information to contact dispatch.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that outside factors, such as mechanical failure, share some responsibility in a single-vehicle accident. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
