Vacaville, CA – On the evening of Monday, May 19, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision caused injuries to one individual and resulted in an arrest related to street racing, according to Bay City News.
The Vacaville Police Department reports that the crash took place around 8:00 PM at the intersection of Cliffside Drive and Peabody Road, following a high-speed incident connected to Interstate 80.
According to investigators, the driver of a Ford Mustang and the driver of a Chevrolet Corvette were allegedly racing on Interstate 80 shortly before exiting onto Cliffside Drive. Surveillance video released by authorities shows both vehicles speeding down the off-ramp. As the Mustang attempted to turn onto Peabody Road, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into two other cars.
The impact caused significant damage to the involved vehicles. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported one person from the struck vehicles to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. Details about the condition of the injured individual were not immediately disclosed.
The Mustang driver, a 22-year-old Vacaville man, was taken into custody at the scene. He was booked into jail on charges related to reckless driving and participation in an illegal speed contest. His vehicle was impounded for 30 days, in accordance with local enforcement policy for street racing violations.
Police noted that they are still seeking further information about the Corvette driver, who fled or was not immediately detained following the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
