Atascadero, CA – On the morning of Sunday, May 11, 2025, a three-vehicle collision caused injuries to five individuals, according to The San Luis Obispo Tribune.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 9:59 AM at the intersection of Highway 41 and Creston Road.
According to initial reports, a tan Chevrolet truck, gray Ford minivan, and dark gray SUV were involved in the crash, which occurred when one of the vehicles allegedly failed to stop at a posted sign on Creston Road.
The force of the impact caused significant damage, deploying airbags in all three vehicles. Passengers in the Chevrolet truck were trapped and required extrication by emergency responders.
Emergency crews dispatched three fire engines, two medic units, and two tow trucks to the scene. A medevac helicopter was called to transport victims with the most serious injuries.
Medics reported two individuals with major injuries and three others with minor injuries. The identities and ages of the injured parties have not been released.
Highway 41 was temporarily closed in both directions to accommodate the helicopter landing and emergency operations.
The collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Stop Sign Laws
California Law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a Stop sign (California Vehicle Code 22450). Drivers may only enter the intersection when it appears safe for all parties to do so (California Vehicle Code 21802).
Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
