Arvin, CA – On the morning of Friday, May 9, 2025, a collision involving a big rig and another vehicle resulted in at least one person sustaining major injuries, according to KGET.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 5:58 AM at North Rancho Drive and David Road, south of Arvin.
Authorities said the crash involved a big rig whose cab overturned, spilling a load of plastic bins onto the roadway. At least two people were reportedly pinned inside the vehicles following the impact. Emergency crews responded to the scene and requested an air ambulance to transport one of the victims due to the severity of the injuries.
Officials confirmed that at least one individual sustained major trauma. The condition of the other parties involved was not immediately released.
The cause of the crash has not been determined, and the California Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
