Shawn Martin, 42, Killed in Motorcycle Crash at Cold Springs, Middletown Road in Placerville

Placerville, CA – In the early hours of Sunday, April 13, 2025, a fatal motorcycle collision resulted in the death of 42-year-old Shawn Martin of Placerville, according to CBS13.

The Placerville Police Department reports that the accident took place around 2:22 AM near the intersection of Cold Springs Road and Middletown Road.

Emergency responders arrived to find that a motorcycle had crashed. Life-saving efforts were initiated at the scene by officers and personnel from El Dorado County Fire, but the rider was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the incident. Cold Springs Road was temporarily closed while crews worked at the scene and collected evidence. 

The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not released any additional details.  It remains unclear whether speed, alcohol, drugs, or road conditions played a role. 

The Placerville Police Department is asking anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
