April 13, 2025, Paso Robles, CA: A driver who was suspected of driving under the influence was involved in a crash with an officer in Paso Robles on Sunday night.
According to information provided by KSBY, the accident happened around 10:49 p.m. on Wellsona Road. Two officers working a night shift were in a marked CHP Templeton Area cruiser headed southbound while a 36-year-old in a 2008 Ford Focus was headed eastbound and slammed into the CHP cruiser after driving into their path. The driving officer attempted to stop in time but was unable to do so.
The two officers inside the cruiser were hurt in the accident and hospitalized with minor injuries. The driver of the Ford was also injured and taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the Ford was charged with suspected felony driving under the influence of alcohol for his role in the accident.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accident at this time.
