Alpine County, CA – On the early morning of Friday, March 21, 2025, a single-vehicle crash in Markleeville resulted in at least one fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 3:25 AM near the intersection of State Route 89 and State Route 4.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and coordinated with multiple agencies, including the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The crash involved a vehicle that had gone off the roadway. Authorities requested a tow service for recovery, but due to hazardous conditions, removal of the vehicle was postponed until daylight.
