February 23, 2025, Fresno, CA: A suspected DUI accident that took place in Fresno on Sunday morning caused injuries in several victims, including an officer.
According to information provided by Your Central Valley, the accident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Ashlan Avenue near Highway 41. Police confirmed that an on-duty officer was wrapping up a traffic stop in the area when their vehicle was struck from behind by a Honda Accord. The impact was so forceful that it caused the patrol cruiser to slam forward into a Chevrolet Equinox. All three of the involved vehicles spun out as a result of the collision.
A 26-year-old female passenger inside the Accord sustained major injuries in the accident. Two California Highway Patrol officers sustained moderate injuries and the driver of the Equinox received minor injuries. All of the involved parties were transported to the hospital.
Police arrested the driver of the Honda, identified as a 28-year-old man from Merced, on charges of suspected felony DUI.
No further details have been released. Police continue their investigation into the collision at this time.
