December 9, 2024, Bakersfield, CA: A man was tragically killed in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Bakersfield on Monday night.
The accident, according to information provided by KGET, took place at 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Union Avenue and Brundage Lane. Police claim that a man was walking across the road at the time when he was suddenly struck by the driver of a Toyota sedan traveling south. The Toyota did not stop at the scene. The pedestrian was then struck by a second vehicle, identified as a Ram pickup truck.
The pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead on scene as a result of traumatic injuries.
Police spoke with the driver of the pickup truck, who cooperated with police. They later discovered the driver of the involved sedan at his home in Bakersfield. He was arrested on charges of hit-and-run and DUI.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
