December 2, 2024, Fresno, CA: A passenger was tragically killed in a fatal truck accident that took place on a highway in Fresno on Monday morning.
According to information provided by Your Central Valley, the collision occurred around 12:05 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5. Police confirmed that a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer was stopped in traffic on the highway with a Subaru Outback behind it. A 2025 Volvo tractor-trailer was traveling north and slammed into the back of the Subaru, causing it to strike the rear of the 2023 tractor-trailer.
A passenger inside the Subaru, identified as a 24-year-old, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and four other passengers in the Subaru sustained minor and moderate injuries and were hospitalized. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the accident at this time.
