November 17, 2024, Bakersfield, CA: Early Sunday morning, a woman was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident that happened on a highway in Bakersfield.
According to information provided by KGET, the accident happened around 1 a.m. on Highway 99 just south of Houghton Road. Police confirmed that two pedestrians were walking in the area when they were suddenly struck by the driver of a passenger vehicle. The alleged involved vehicle fled the scene but was described by witnesses as a gray Ford vehicle.
One of the pedestrians, identified as a 50-year-old woman, was tragically pronounced dead on scene as a result of her injuries. The other pedestrian, identified as a 46-year-old man, was rushed to Kern Medical with major injuries.
It is believed that police are still searching for the driver involved in the accident. Their investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
