Pregnant Woman Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 in Coalinga

October 11, 2024, Coalinga, CA: On Friday morning, a pregnant woman sustained injuries and lost her unborn baby in a three-vehicle crash in Coalinga.

According to information provided by Your Central Valley, the collision took place around 10 a.m. on Interstate 5, just south of Highway 145. When officers arrived on scene, they found that three vehicles were involved in the collision.

A driver was traveling south on Interstate 5 in their 2023 Hyundai Elantra with a 2022 Subaru Forester directly in front of it. A GMC Yukon was traveling south in front of the Subaru. The drivers of the GMC and Subaru slowed down due to another traffic crash in the area, which is when the Hyundai slammed into the back of the Subaru. The Subaru was then propelled forward and struck the GMC.

A pregnant woman inside the Subaru sustained facial injuries and a concussion. She was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment but her unborn baby tragically suffered fatal injuries.

No further details have been released at this time but the investigation continues.
