August 6, 2024, San Jose, CA: A child was killed in a fatal scooter accident that took place in San Jose on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a report from Mercury News, the accident happened around 4:21 p.m. at the intersection of Camden and Leigh Avenues. A Chevy pickup truck was traveling westbound on Camden Avenue when it went through the green light and collided with a boy on a scooter who was close to the marked crosswalk. The driver immediately stopped and remained on scene.
Due to the severity of the 11-year-old boy’s injuries, he was tragically pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
San Jose Police blocked off the intersection in all directions following the accident until the scene was cleared.
No further details have been released at this time. The investigation into the collision continues.
