July 26, 2024, Salinas, CA: On Friday evening, a young child was tragically killed and his father was hospitalized following a hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Salinas. The accident happened, according to Kion46 News Channel, around 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of East Alisal Street and Wood Street.
Police discovered that a 2-year-old boy and his father were leaving a local hairdresser’s shop when they were struck by a speeding driver in the crosswalk of the intersection. The driver dragged both the father and son through the intersection and then fled the scene without stopping.
The child was pronounced dead on scene due to his injuries. The father was hospitalized but his current condition is not known.
Police have since stated that they believe they found the vehicle connected to the hit-and-run crash. It was left at an apartment complex and is a red 2011 Hyundai Sonata. They, however, have not yet said if they located the driver of the vehicle.
At the time of this article, the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.

California Vehicle Code § 20002 prohibits people from leaving the scene of a crash in California. If and when caught, this driver is very likely looking at felony charges and prison time.
