Around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that happened on a highway in Stevinson. According to information provided by ABC30, the accident happened on Highway 165 just north of Highway 140 on the night of October 11, 2023.
California Highway Patrol confirmed that the accident happened when a 44-year-old Stevinson man was walking across the southbound lanes of the highway when he was struck suddenly by an oncoming vehicle. The driver stopped and remained on scene following the accident.
Paramedics tragically pronounced the pedestrian dead on scene due to traumatic injuries. The driver involved in the accident was not injured.
One or more lanes of traffic were blocked off immediately after the accident. Police did not say if the driver will be cited for the accident or not at this time.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision.
