California Highway Patrol responders arrived on scene to find that a man from Lindsay was walking across the street when he was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene of the collision.
EMS crews were called to the scene to assist the pedestrian. The victim, identified as a local 43-year-old, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. Nobody else sustained injuries in the accident.
A portion of the road was blocked following the accident. Officers did not release a description of the vehicle or say if they are still searching for the responsible driver.
CHP officials continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident at this time.
