Traffic along Bullard Avenue in Fresno doesn’t thin out all that much, even as the sun goes down. Traffic levels may still be dangerous and the addition of a reckless driver to the mix doesn’t improve the chances of motorists getting home safely.
A careless driver may decide to speed and drive aggressively, missing other vehicles by inches. But eventually, bad drivers make mistakes and these can lead to devastating accidents. An injured victim may also have to watch as a reckless driver makes the heartless decision to run from the scene instead of calling for an ambulance.
Woman Badly Hurt After Hit-And-Run Crash in Fresno
A woman was found pinned in her car after a hit-and-run collision in northern Fresno Tuesday night. KSEE-TV reports the accident took place just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Bullard Avenue and Angus Avenue on August 9, 2022.
The Fresno Police Department arrived on the scene to find a car that had crashed into a tree. The woman driving the car was trapped inside and had to be freed. She was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. An update on her condition has not been released.
Upon further investigation, officers learned that a man driving a dark-colored sedan had been driving recklessly before the accident and had collided with the woman’s vehicle. The crash sent her vehicle into the tree.
Investigators say the driver of the sedan stopped, got out of the vehicle, and ran towards the intersection. He is described as a man wearing green shorts. At last word, the hit-and-run suspect had not been located.
Fresno police say that anyone who has information about the suspect or the crash should call the police department.
Finding Support for Victims After Hit-And-Run Accidents
Hit-and-run victims and their families will, understandably, wonder where recovery support will come from if a hit-and-run driver remains unidentified.
Fortunately, victims still have paths to earning support during a difficult and expensive recovery. When an at-fault driver remains on the run, crash victims can file a claim for damages using their own car insurance policy. This claim would target the uninsured motorist portion of the policy. If victims don’t have this coverage, they may be protected by another family member’s policy.
This coverage can be used to cover all hospital bills. The paychecks and benefits a patient loses while out of work should also be reimbursed. And a skilled Fresno Car Accident Lawyer could also work to secure funds to compensate victims for the physical and emotional pain they suffer.
If a hit-and-run suspect is ultimately arrested, the driver will be facing criminal charges. However, a victim can immediately move forward with a civil claim against the driver’s car insurance policy. The criminal and civil cases would proceed separately.
