Two-way stop sign intersections in rural Fresno County can be extremely dangerous for even safe drivers. A motorist who isn’t fully focused on the road may approach an intersection and be unaware that a stop sign is coming up, or that not all cars must stop.
This negligence on the part of a driver who doesn’t stop can create full-speed impacts and cause serious injuries and the loss of life.
Crash Kills One Person and Injures Two More Outside of Fresno City Limits
A collision between two cars southeast of Fresno city limits claimed one life and sent two other people to the hospital early Wednesday morning. KFSN-TV reports the accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Avenue and Temperance Avenue on April 6, 2021.
The California Highway Patrol says the driver of a Toyota RAV 4 failed to stop at a stop sign there and ended up in the path of a Toyota Corolla. The Corolla struck the passenger side of the other vehicle, sending the RAV 4 rolling over into a nearby field.
A 19-year-old passenger from Clovis in the RAV4 died at the scene. Both drivers also suffered injuries. Their conditions have not been released.
California Highway Patrol investigators continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the collision. They don’t believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
Finding Support for Victims and Families After a Fresno County Accident
Surviving victims of frightening accidents must often deal with long and difficult recoveries. The costs of medical care shouldn’t be something they have to stress over if someone else caused their accident. A claim for damages can be filed against the at-fault driver’s insurance company in order to shield the victim from hospital and doctor expenses. The claim also demands reimbursement for the income at work the victim has lost.
For the families of loved ones tragically claimed in an accident, a wrongful death claim filed against an at-fault driver’s insurance company may be necessary. Close relatives will face the costs of a funeral and ambulance fees. They may also be reeling from the loss of income the deceased can no longer provide the family.
A wrongful death claim can be filed to recover these hardships and more. A claim shouldn’t be thought of as targeting the driver, perhaps someone the victim knew. This claim seeks to secure financial support from the driver’s car insurance policy. Tragic incidents like fatal car crashes are why drivers pay their insurance premiums. They will want families who have lost a loved one to be treated fairly.
