Fresno, CA — On the evening of Wednesday, October 21, 2026, a rollover collision related to illegal street racing caused multiple injuries, according to KSEE/KGPE, with additional details provided by FOX26.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place at approximately 6:00 PM at Shaw Avenue and North Maroa Avenue.
According to investigators, a Dodge Durango carrying a family of four was involved in a street race with a Ford Crown Victoria as they drove eastbound on Shaw Avenue. The father was reportedly at the wheel, the mother in the front passenger seat, and their two daughters, ages 6 and 2, were seated in the rear.
As the Dodge approached Maroa, the driver reportedly struck a Honda SUV, rolled over several times, and collided with a concrete wall, bringing it to a sudden stop. The children were helped out of the vehicle by Good Samaritans. The driver, however, was pinned inside, and firefighters required the Jaws of Life to free him.
Both the mother and father received major injuries, their 6-year-old daughter received minor injuries, and their 2-year-old daughter was believed to be uninjured. Emergency responders provided the injured with transportation to a nearby hospital.
The Honda driver also sustained minor injuries. The Ford allegedly fled the scene.
Eastbound Shaw Avenue was blocked at College Avenue to accommodate crash site investigators. This is an ongoing investigation.
