Brawley, Jensen Ave Multi-Vehicle Crash Kills 1, Injures 6 in Fresno County

Fresno County, CA — In the late afternoon of Saturday, October 17, 2026, a three-vehicle collision resulted in one person losing their life and six others sustaining injuries, according to ABC30.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place shortly before 4:30 PM near South Brawley Avenue and West Jensen Avenue, in a rural area of Fresno County west of Fresno.

The accident reportedly involved three vehicles — a Ford Fusion, a Volkswagen, and a Ford F-150. According to investigators, the Fusion was traveling southbound on Brawley Avenue, while the Volkswagen was traveling westbound and the F-150 was traveling eastbound on Jensen Avenue.

While few details regarding the sequence of events have been released, it has been reported that both the Volkswagen and the F-150 collided with the Fusion. The resulting impact caused a passenger in the Fusion to lose their life and six of those involved to be hospitalized.

It is not believed that intoxication played a role in this fatal collision, according to authorities.

Fresno Multi-Vehicle Accidents: Wrongful Death and Personal Injury Claims

California law operates under the principle of comparative negligence, which holds that responsibility for a fatal accident can be shared among those involved. Fault is not an all-or-nothing proposition. It is assigned based on crash site investigations and witness statements.

The Ford Fusion passenger’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim with those found to be at fault in this collision. That may include the Volkswagen driver, the F-150 driver, or even their own driver. A wrongful death claim can provide compensation for damages such as funeral expenses and the loss of support and companionship provided by the deceased.

For the injured parties, if one of the others involved in the accident is found at least partially responsible for the crash that caused their injuries, they may have grounds for a personal injury claim. A personal injury claim can provide compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages associated with the accident. Any settlement may be reduced if the injured party is found to share responsibility for the crash, but that does not bar them from seeking partial compensation.
