Bakersfield PD Seeks Suspects after Kentucky, Haley St Hit-and-Run Injures Scooter Rider

Bakersfield, CA — Nearly four months after a scooter rider was injured in a hit-and-run on the night of Saturday, June 27, 2026, the Bakersfield Police Department is asking the public for help identifying the two drivers involved, according to KGET.

The Bakersfield Police Department asks that anyone with information regarding the collision at the intersection of Kentucky and Haley streets around 8:52 PM come forward.

According to investigators, a man was traveling eastbound on Kentucky Street on a scooter when one of the suspect vehicles struck him from behind at the Haley Street intersection. The vehicle then fled the scene, continuing eastbound.

Another vehicle traveling westbound on Kentucky Street collided with the scooter, which was lying in the roadway, only seconds later before fleeing the scene as well.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Kern Medical, according to the Bakersfield PD. He was released after receiving treatment for injuries to his head and leg.

Although both vehicles were found on video from nearby surveillance cameras, investigators could not determine the make, model, or license number of either car due to poor image quality.

Bakersfield PD believes a light blue or light gray SUV was the first vehicle that struck the scooter rider. It may have been a Chevrolet Suburban or a Tahoe of an older model. As for the second vehicle, it has only been described as white and may have two doors and black wheels.

Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Accidents and Personal Injury Claims

If found, the first driver involved in this accident may be considered liable for the scooter rider’s injuries. A personal injury claim made with their insurer could provide compensation for the victim’s medical expenses, damage to the victim’s property, pain and suffering, and other damages. Should the at-fault parties escape justice, a personal injury lawyer may be able to help the victim explore other options to receive compensation.
