Fresno County, CA – On the morning of Monday, June 29, 2026, a collision with a big rig resulted in the death of Elsa Gonzales, 43, of Fresno, according to KSEE/KGPE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:17 AM at South Chestnut Avenue and East Annadale Avenue.
Authorities said Gonzales was driving a Honda Acura northbound on Chestnut Avenue when she collided with the back left portion of a tractor-trailer that was making a left turn onto the road.
The impact sent the Acura northeast into the parking lots of Red Triangle Oil Company and Flyers Filling Station before it swerved back onto the roadway. Gonzales was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office formally identified her following the crash. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured.
A hard closure was established at northbound Chestnut Avenue just south of Annadale Avenue, with Fresno County Roads contacted to assist with traffic control. A tow was requested for the Acura following the conclusion of on-scene proceedings.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the California Highway Patrol Fresno Area office. The investigation remains ongoing.
Wrongful Death Claim
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling. Filing a wrongful death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses.
