Bakersfield, CA – In the early hours of Monday, July 13, 2026, a two-vehicle collision resulting from a driver running a stop sign left three people injured in East Bakersfield, according to KGET.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:00 AM at the intersection of Flower and Gage Streets.
Authorities said a black BMW sedan ran a stop sign while traveling southbound on Gage Street and collided with a Chevrolet pickup. The driver of the pickup sustained minor injuries. The BMW carried three occupants, two of whom were transported to Kern Medical with injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The third occupant fled the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Failure to Yield
In California, as in other states, “failure to yield” means that you didn’t give the right of way to the right person at the right time. As such, failure to yield or stop is closely related to the “right of way.” When a motorist fails to yield, stop or otherwise avoid an accident and causes a crash, he or she can be held liable for injuries and damages suffered by a victim.
Bakersfield Car Accidents and Personal Injury Claims
California law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at posted stop signs and yield the right-of-way to cross traffic before proceeding through an intersection. When a driver fails to stop and causes a collision, that driver may bear liability for the resulting injuries to others involved in the crash.
Those injured in this collision may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim. A personal injury claim can provide compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages related to the accident.
