Bakersfield, CA – On the evening of Thursday, May 14, 2026, a collision with a vehicle resulted in pedestrian Sibichan Varghese, 54, of Stevenson Ranch, losing his life in northwest Bakersfield, according to KGET.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 8:22 PM on Snow Road just west of Quail Creek Road.
Authorities said a man driving a Chevrolet was traveling westbound on Snow Road west of Hollow Brook Drive when he struck Varghese. Varghese was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office formally identified him following the crash.
Investigators determined that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
