Vallejo, CA – On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 7, 2026, a collision resulted in a woman losing her life after she fell from her scooter into the path of a passing vehicle, according to KRON.
The Vallejo Police Department reports that the accident took place around 1:49 PM near Sonoma Boulevard and Kentucky Street.
Authorities said the woman was operating a scooter northbound on Sonoma Boulevard when she appeared to lose control for unknown reasons and fell into the roadway, where she was struck by a passing vehicle.
Medics were already attending to the woman when officers arrived at the scene. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced dead. Her identity had not been released at the time of reporting.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators. Driving under the influence does not appear to have been a factor in the collision.
The incident marks Vallejo’s seventh fatal traffic collision of 2026. The investigation remains ongoing.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s comparative negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
