Manteca, CA – On the afternoon of Friday, May 8, 2026, a three-vehicle head-on collision left two people seriously injured on South Union Road, according to KCRA.
The Manteca Police Department reports that the accident took place just after 5:30 PM on South Union Road between Liggett Court and Marrion Street.
Authorities said a Chevrolet Corvette and a Nissan Rogue collided while both were traveling southbound on South Union Road. For reasons still being determined, the Corvette veered into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a Toyota Camry traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Corvette, a 33-year-old man from Manteca, and the driver of the Camry, a 67-year-old woman from Manteca, were both extricated from their vehicles by Manteca fire crews and transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan, a 49-year-old man, and his passenger were not injured.
The roadway was reopened after 10:00 PM following the conclusion of on-scene investigative proceedings. Investigators are examining whether any of the drivers were impaired at the time of the collision.
Authorities are seeking witnesses to the crash and asking anyone with information to contact the Manteca Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s comparative negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a personal injury claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
