Kernville, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, March 7, 2026, a single-vehicle motorcycle collision resulted in the death of Robert Saul Ochoa, 66, of Weldon, according to KGET.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:28 PM on Sierra Way south of Camp Nine.
Authorities said Ochoa was operating a 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Sierra Way when, for reasons still under investigation, he was reportedly unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway.
The motorcycle departed the roadway and traveled up a dirt embankment in a southeasterly direction before overturning and ejecting Ochoa. He sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office formally identified him following the crash.
Investigators have not determined whether alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the collision. Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to contact the CHP Bakersfield Area Public Information Officer. The investigation remains ongoing.
