Pickup Truck Driver Injured in Crash with School Bus at Westwood St, Hwy 190 in Tulare County

Tulare County, CA – On the evening of Thursday, April 2, 2026, a collision between a pickup truck and a school bus left the truck’s driver injured, according to KSEE/KGPE.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 6:00 PM at Westwood Street and Highway 190 just south of Porterville.

Authorities said a school bus was traveling southbound on Westwood Street when it stopped to make a left turn and drove directly into the path of an oncoming pickup truck traveling westbound on Highway 190. The pickup was hauling a flatbed trailer carrying a forklift at the time of the collision.

The pickup sustained severe damage as a result of the impact, and the Jaws of Life were required to extricate the driver from the wreckage. No children were aboard the school bus at the time of the crash.

The driver of the pickup sustained probable moderate injuries and was expected to survive. Westwood Street was temporarily closed while crews worked to clear the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Personal Injury Claims

After a traffic accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A personal injury claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their costs of care.
