UPDATE: Noah Jacobus, 25, of Sacramento County, Named in Fatal Motorcycle Crash near Oak, Filbert Ave in Orangevale

Orangevale, CA – On the evening of Wednesday, April 15, 2026, a single-vehicle motorcycle collision resulted in the death of Noah Jacobus, 25, of Sacramento County, just hours after he had proposed to his fiancée, according to KCRA.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 9:46 PM on Oak Avenue just west of Filbert Avenue.

Authorities said Jacobus was riding alongside his fiancée, Molly Wiseman, when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a mailbox. A reporting party indicated the motorcycle had swerved to avoid a near-collision with another vehicle prior to the crash, and investigators were examining whether another vehicle may have been involved.

Jacobus and Wiseman had been on their way to dinner to announce their engagement when the crash occurred. Wiseman described him as someone who loved to make people smile and said the two had been inseparable since meeting in January. She also noted that Jacobus had recently been offered a permanent position with the National Guard, an opportunity he had been pursuing for months.

A chaplain was requested to respond to the scene to assist the family. The coroner was notified and responded, with Jacobus pronounced dead at the scene. An evidence tow was requested for the motorcycle. Westbound lanes of Oak Avenue were closed during the investigation, with traffic diverted to Filbert Avenue. The roadway was cleared at approximately 12:03 AM. The investigation remains ongoing.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s comparative negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a wrongful death claim.
