Livermore, CA – On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 29, 2026, a collision with a vehicle resulted in the death of Janelle Margaret Benson Weispfenning, 50, of Livermore, according to KRON.

The Livermore Police Department reports that the accident took place around 1:00 PM near Isabel Avenue and Stanley Boulevard.

Authorities said Weispfenning was riding a sportbike motorcycle northbound on Isabel Avenue when she ran a red light and entered the intersection, colliding with a gray sedan that was turning left to travel southbound on Isabel Avenue.

Officers arrived and provided CPR to Weispfenning before medics arrived on scene. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced dead. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau formally identified her following her death.

The driver of the sedan, an 87-year-old Pleasanton woman, sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated and released. She was cooperating with investigators at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.

Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s comparative negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.

Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
