Fresno County, CA – On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 29, 2026, a suspected DUI head-on collision left two people hospitalized near Highway 99, according to KSEE/KGPE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place just before 3:00 PM near Temperance and Manning Avenues, approximately halfway between Fowler and Selma.
Authorities said the driver of a Hyundai crossed into the opposing lane and directly into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The two vehicles collided head-on, with the force of the impact flipping the pickup onto its roof. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals for treatment of injuries ranging from moderate to major.
The driver of the Hyundai was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was to be booked into the Fresno County Jail following medical clearance.
Roads in the area were temporarily closed while crews worked to clear the scene before being reopened. The investigation remains ongoing.
California DUI Law
Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a personal injury claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
