Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in Hwy 113, East Main St Crash in Woodland

Woodland, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, April 28, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in the death of a driver and injury of a passenger on northbound Highway 113 near East Main Street, according to KCRA.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 9:25 AM.

Authorities said a Toyota was traveling northbound on Highway 113, approaching East Main Street, when it attempted to pass another vehicle by moving into the center median. The driver allegedly lost control, crossed into the southbound lanes, and went off the freeway into an embankment.

The vehicle came to rest upside down against a tree, and the driver was ejected during the crash. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle sustained injuries and was attended to by emergency personnel.

Investigators have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the collision. The identity of the deceased had not been released at the time of reporting.

The roadway was temporarily closed while crews investigated and cleared the scene before being subsequently reopened. The investigation remains ongoing.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s comparative negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a wrongful death claim.

Passenger Liability

Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a personal injury claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming. As a neutral third party, an experienced personal injury attorney can help navigate these emotional complexities.
