Monterey County, CA – On the morning of Saturday, April 19, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in the death of Brandon Daniel Zuniga, 24, of King City, according to KCRA.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 5:05 AM on Jolon Road south of Argyle Road.
Authorities said Zuniga made a combination of unsafe turning movements that caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The SUV departed the roadway in a southwesterly direction, struck an ascending dirt-and-grass embankment, and overturned.
Zuniga was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office formally identified him following the crash.
Investigators determined that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have been contributing factors in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s comparative negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a wrongful death claim.
