Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Kernville on Sierra Way near Camp Nine

Kernville, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, March 7, 2026, a single-vehicle motorcycle collision resulted in the death of a 65-year-old man, according to KBAK.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:32 PM on Sierra Way south of Camp Nine.

Authorities said the rider was operating a 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Sierra Way when, for reasons still under investigation, he was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The motorcycle departed the roadway and traveled up a dirt embankment in a southeasterly direction before overturning and ejecting the rider.

The rider sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not determined whether alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the collision.

Authorities noted that approximately two weeks prior, another motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Sierra Way near Cyrus Canyon Road, roughly one mile from the location of this incident.

Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to contact the CHP Bakersfield Area Public Information Officer. The investigation remains ongoing.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a Wrongful Death Claim.
