Multi-Vehicle Crash Kills Antioch Woman, 28, Injures Others, near SR-4, Dunton Rd in Stanislaus County

Stanislaus County, CA – On the afternoon of Friday, February 20, 2026, a four-vehicle head-on collision resulted in the death of a 28-year-old Antioch woman and injuries to multiple others, according to The Modesto Bee, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:15 PM near State Route 4 east of Dunton Road in the northern portion of the county.

Authorities said the woman was a passenger in a 2025 Jeep SUV traveling eastbound on Highway 4. Investigators believe that the Jeep’s driver, 24-year-old Kevyn Correa of Antioch, may have attempted to pass another vehicle by crossing solid double yellow lines. During the maneuver, the Jeep entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck driven by a 51-year-old man from Angels Camp.

The impact caused the Jeep to overturn onto its roof. The Tesla driver lost control following the collision and struck a 2021 Subaru sedan traveling eastbound. The force of that crash sheared off a wheel from the Subaru, which then struck a 2016 Hyundai SUV traveling westbound. The Subaru continued out of control, crashing through a metal fence before coming to rest in a nearby field. All four vehicles sustained major damage, and one vehicle was reported overturned.

The 28-year-old Antioch woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Correa sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Three additional passengers in the Jeep also suffered injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment. The Tesla driver sustained injuries and was hospitalized. The 38-year-old Oakland man driving the Subaru, along with his two passengers, including a 1-year-old girl, was not injured. The 53-year-old Copperopolis man driving the Hyundai SUV and his passenger also escaped injury.

Emergency medical services and fire personnel responded to the scene following reports of a head-on traffic collision involving several vehicles. Highway 4 east of Dunton Road was closed for approximately three hours to allow for investigation and vehicle removal. Authorities confirmed that all occupants were wearing seatbelts and that alcohol and drugs were not considered factors in the crash.

Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.

Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
