Oakdale, CA – According to The Modesto Bee, 48-year-old Julie Mullins of Oakdale has been identified as the woman who lost her life in a head-on collision on the afternoon of Thursday, February 19, 2026.
Additionally, the crash resulted in major injuries to the following:
- a 28-year-old Ceres man
- a 28-year-old Ceres woman
- a 26-year-old Modesto man
- a 24-year-old Manteca woman
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:56 PM on State Route 108/120 west of Kennedy Road.
Authorities said Mullins was driving a 2013 Subaru sedan westbound when, for reasons still under investigation, she crossed over solid double yellow lines and entered the eastbound lane. Her vehicle then collided head-on with a 2019 Tesla sedan traveling in the opposite direction.
Emergency personnel arrived to find both vehicles with major damage. Mullins was pronounced dead at the scene. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office later confirmed her identity and notified next of kin in accordance with standard procedure.
The Tesla driver and his three passengers sustained major injuries in the crash. All four were transported by ambulance to Oak Valley Medical Center for treatment. Officials stated that all occupants involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
Investigators said it remains unknown whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. State Route 108/120 was temporarily closed in the area to allow officers to conduct an on-scene investigation and document evidence. Traffic was detoured with minimal delay.
The collision remains under active investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Ongoing Investigations
Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
